Elvis Presley (1935-1977) :

Elvis Presley, nicknamed “The King”, was a pop singer, a guitar player and an actor.

He became the world’s most popular singer in the late 1950s and the 1960s. His combination of country music with bluesy vocals and a strong back beat paved the way for rock’n’roll. He is also known for his uninhibited stage and television performances. He was the symbol of sexual liberation. To many adults, the singer was the “personification of evil” and he was condemned as depraved.

Presley is reported to have sold over one billion singles and albums, which makes him the biggest-selling solo artist of all time.

He died at Graceland Mansion, his home in Memphis, Tennessee.
